Yendall to miss rest of season with injury

Jockey Dean Yendall suffered a fractured scapula in a race fall in Mildura.

Jockey Dean Yendall will be sidelined until next season after suffering a fractured scapula in a race fall at Mildura.

Yendall came off his mount Soldier’s Image in the final race on Monday and initial scans cleared him of any breaks.

But on Thursday morning, Yendall said on Twitter he has in fact fractured his scapula and would be out for at least four to six weeks.

Yendall leads the Victorian jockeys’ premiership with 138 wins, 16 ahead of Linda Meech with the season to end on July 31.

Yendall sits third on the national premiership behind Western Australia’s premier jockey William Pike and Queensland’s top hoop Jeff Lloyd.
