Russian Revolution favourite for McEwen

Group One winner Russian Revolution has been installed the early favourite for the McEwen Stakes at Moonee Valley and will get a look at the course in a gallop ahead of the Group Two sprint.

A number of horses entered for races on Saturday’s Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes program are scheduled to gallop at the course on Tuesday morning, including the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Russian Revolution.

Magic Millions Classic winner Houtzen, another entered for the McEwen, is also set to gallop at the Valley on Tuesday.

The nominations for the McEwen (1000m) have been extended until Tuesday with the 10 initial entries including last-start Carlyon Stakes winner Missrock, Heatherly and Supido.

Galaxy winner Russian Revolution is the early $2.90 favourite ahead of Houtzen at $3.50 and Heatherly and Hellbent at $6.50.

Group One-winning stablemates Bonneval and Lizzie L’Amour are also scheduled to work at Moonee Valley on Tuesday, with the New Zealand pair entered to make their first spring carnival appearances in the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes.

The Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman-trained mares are among 13 nominations for the Group Two 1600m weight-for-age race, with entries also extended until Tuesday.

Bonneval and Lizzie L’Amour arrived in Melbourne eight days ago.

Godolphin’s headline horse in Australia, Hartnell, is scheduled to work on Tuesday but is not nominated to race at Moonee Valley on Saturday, with his next start scheduled to be the Group One Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington a week later.
