There are plenty of hard luck stories when it comes to racing but you could understand why punters would be upset after doing their dough at Townsville on Tuesday night.
As the dogs were being loaded for the second heat of the Easter Sprint Trophy, bizarrely no one noticed that a rake had been placed in front of the boxes.
The light turned green and the lids rose, sending the rake into the air and quite possibly hampering the #1 dog who was on the second line of betting.
Unbelievably the race was deemed fair and the all clear was given. Not bad if you backed the odds-on winner but you would be understandably peeved if you were on the #1.
