Race 1

5 – 2 – 3 – 6

What a cracking race to kick start the day. 5 PARET debuted at Canterbury and what a super win it was. He is sure to give them a start here again like on debut but if he can unleash a similar sprint he can run straight over them. 2 Beau Geste was disappointing first up when third in a good quality race so will strip fitter here and looks to get a gun run. 3 Molten has the Snowden stable excited so must be respected.

3 – 4 – 1 – 2

Small field but a tricky race. 3 AUVRAY got very close at Newcastle when narrowly beaten by 1 Broadside but meets him a kilo better here. Richard Freedman has him firing and if he gets the chance to wind up he could reel them in. 4 Admiral Jello ran third at Newcastle but meets both better at the weights and I think from gate one will stalk Broadside and looks the value here. The favourite 1 Broadside is a major player obviously but seems under the odds for mine at this stage.

2 – 3 – 6 – 4

2 DON’T GIVE A DAMN only needs to repeat his latest run here when beaten a lip by Suncraze and I think he will get the chocolates. From a good draw he will race handy with the step up from 1200m to 1500m and be hard to beat.

Race 4

3 – 5 – 2 – 4

3 UP ‘N’ROLLING is the favourite and hard to beat but odds-on seems right at the bottom end of the betting. His two wins this preparation have been very good with his asset being his turn of speed for a middle distance staying type. From gate one will be hard to beat. That said 2 Alward, 4 Imanui and 5 Quick Defence are racing well and will give him a run for his money. Safest play for me is the boxed quinella and look for the value runners to fill the first two placings.

Race 5

5 – 9 – 4 – 11

5 WASHINGTON HEIGHTS looks to have found a perfect race when the speed should be genuine allowing him to find his feet then charge in the home straight. His last start win was very good when ridden for the day’s pattern. 9 Dawn Wall ran second to Washington Heights last start suggesting she’s back in good order. The step to 1500m will aid her and from a soft draw and only 53kg on her back looks the main threat.

3 – 1 – 8 – 2

Not a race I am over excited about playing in but I do think the winner is in my numbers. It’s about what’s the best way to play it. 3 SANCTIONED has been very good at both runs back and if the 1800m is what he has been looking for he’ll be hard to beat. The value in the race lays around 2 Ace High and 8 Thy Kingdom Come who won by six lengths last start at Kembla.

2 – 4 – 7 – 9

5 MENARI was awesome a fortnight ago and it looks as though only bad luck will bring about his defeat here. He is built like a brick shit house and has got a super turn of speed. Clearly the one to beat. 4 Gold Standard now faces his test but he has been very good and should get a good run somewhere near the speed. The query runner is the Melbourne visitor 7 Merchant Navy who is four from four and from all reports settled in terrific up here in Sydney. The good barrier will help.

2 – 4 – 5 – 7

It’s D-Day for 2 OMEI SWORD to show us all she is firing and going to live up to the ability we know she has. There were excuses first up when she knuckled on jumping and then last start she couldn’t win the way the race panned out. Good gate and Huey on board the time has come. Ronny Quinton has two threats in 1 Dixie Blossoms and 4 Daysee Doom.

5 ZUMBELINA showed she just wants good tracks and her true ability will shine through. Her win first up was impressive and from gate one here it’s hard not seeing her doing the exact thing again. 3 Hogmanay & 4 Sir Plush are capable if the luck falls their way from the awkward barriers. 9 Screamarr went super first up in winning and a repeat run would have right around the mark.
