Adele Amour on song for the VOBIS Gold Mile

Trainer John Sadler initially thought that consistent three-year-old Adele Amour wasn’t eligible to run in the VOBIS Gold Mile (1600m) at Caulfield, but when throwing a nomination in for the sake of it, it turns out that she can line up in the $250,000, and that has pleased him even more.

“I’m really pleased with her and we take her there as a really good chance, Sadler said.

With two wins in eight starts so far plus two minor placings, Sadler returns the filly to Caulfield after her last start success earlier in April over 1400 metres.

“I thought I’d have to run her in the Open event over 1600 metres, but she’d have been less suited to that.”

Sadler has retained apprentice Alana Kelly for the ride for which they’ve drawn barrier 3.

Rated the $5.50 third favourite in the opening market with TAB after acceptances were taken on Wednesday, Junipal ($4 favourite) and Le Chevalee ($4.60) from the Ciaron Maher and Dave Eustace stable occupy top two lines of betting.

This event will be the first time that Junipal has taken on a non-black type race since winning over 1700 metres at Caulfield in September 2020.

Having had only one run in 2021 when unsuccessful on a heavy track at Rosehill though finishing six lengths off Think It Over in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes, the six-year-old gelding stakes his claim after two unplaced build-up runs at Flemington in March at Listed and Group 3 level.
