Apprentice Aitken has a win at RAD Board

Apprentice Mitch Aitken has had his appeal against a careless riding suspension upheld by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board.

Aitken was suspended on a low level careless riding charge, receiving an eight meeting ban, after riding Last Wish who was unplaced in the Casterton Cup on Sunday.

Racing Victoria stewards suspended Aitken after ruling he allowed his mount to shift in 200m after the start of the 2000m race resulting in Wannon Warrior being checked and losing his position.

Represented by Victorian Jockeys’ Association chief executive Matt Hyland, Aitken lodged an appeal against the decision of stewards and the severity of penalty and on Tuesday the RAD Board upheld his appeal and dismissed the careless riding charge.
