Trainer Mitchell Freedman says Attrition is primed for Saturday’s So You Think Stakes (1500m) at Moonee Valley after regaining confidence with a Horsham trial.
The entire was luckless first-up in the Lawrence Stakes (1400m) on August 16, badly hampered in a midfield scrimmage. Freedman responded by sending him to Horsham for a hit-out before another sharp gallop at The Valley this week.
“I was rapt with the work he did at Horsham,” Freedman said. “He was a little hesitant to go into a gap, but when she gave him a squeeze he quickened into it. That was pleasing to see… he’s bounced through it.”
Freedman expects Attrition to improve with more distance and has the $2 million Hill Stakes (1900m) at Rosehill on October 11 firmly in his sights.
“He races well up there and that distance suits him. It might be stronger this year, but we’ll take our chance again,” he said.
