Hugh Bowman has won the first two races at Canterbury to extend his lead in the Sydney jockeys’ premiership to 2-1/2.

His rival Brenton Avdulla’s mounts in the first three races on Wednesday were scratched leaving Bowman with the advantage.

Bowman won the first race on the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Brave Song and claimed the second on country horse Nictock for Cameron Crockett.
