Bridal Waltz delivered an unexpected bonus for co-trainers Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, claiming the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Saturday.
Backing up from her Listed win in the Creswick Stakes at Flemington, the Snitzel filly notched her fifth victory from 12 starts.
“Now she’s made herself a valuable little girl, she’s a multiple Stakes winner, Stakes-placed and it’s been well-deserved,” Moody said.
While originally slated for a spell, she may now continue racing with Moody considering options including a Group 2 mares’ race or another spring campaign in November.
Bridal Waltz ($4.60ef) sat outside the leader before hitting the front at the 150m and holding off the fast-finishing Kin ($5) by a half-neck.
“She was too good,” winning jockey Ben Melham said.
Yellow Sam ($6) finished third.
Kin’s late run denied James Cummings a farewell feature win as Godolphin head trainer, while Craig Williams’ second placing leaves him trailing Blake Shinn in the jockeys’ premiership.
