A planned trip to Wyong last weekend was scrapped due to the bushfire situation in Victoria, but the delay may prove beneficial for Princess Que.
Trainer Simon Zahra was eager to see the mare run at Wyong, a track he is yet to have a runner at.
Instead, the Flemington-based trainer will chase his first winner at Murray Bridge in the Thomas Farms Handicap (1200m).
“We couldn’t go to Wyong because the roadblocks with the fires meant that it would have added another four hours to the trip,” Zahra said.
“This is our next option and hopefully she gets the job done.”
Princess Que has built a solid record, winning three races and placing three times from 10 starts.
The four-year-old has performed well this preparation with a win and a placing, leaving her well set for another competitive showing.
She sits on the second line of betting at $3.20, narrowly behind Angel Torque at $3.10.
“She was favourite last week and it was quite a strong race,” Zahra said.
“She looked well in and goes very well fresh.”
Barrier one is expected to suit the frontrunning mare.
