Tim Clark will team up with Victorian mare Grinzinger Belle as he chases a final Group 1 win for the season in the Tattersall’s Tiara.
Fresh off a Stradbroke Handicap victory aboard War Machine, Clark has never ridden Grinzinger Belle before but believes she’s the right type for the race.
“My manager was keen. He had a look at the potential make-up of the field and she is the fresh horse on the scene,” Clark said.
With Queensland’s mares taking turns this prep, Clark said they decided to “looked outside the square a bit.”
Grinzinger Belle, trained by Danny O’Brien, is proven over the Tiara’s 1400m trip and was given a break after finishing midfield in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m).
She earlier led all the way to win the Sunline Stakes (1600m) and has strong stats fresh.
“She likes to run along and break a field up,” Clark said. “Hopefully we can end the season with another Group One.”
Grinzinger Belle is rated a $11 chance, with Firestorm the $3.50 favourite.
