Dealmaker breaks through for second win

The Chris Waller-trained Dealmaker has landed a consolation win after the gelding failed to qualify for the Epsom Handicap.

The four-year-old had his 18th start at Randwick on Saturday where he placed first for only the second time – 481 days after his first win.

Starting favourite at $3.50, Dealmaker was originally part of Waller’s Epsom Handicap entries.

“At the end of the autumn I said to the owners we’ll set this horse for the Epsom,” Waller said.

“We got the day right but unfortunately he’s not in the Epsom.”

Dealmaker ridden by James McDonald and he defeated Got Unders ($18) by a short neck with Penske ($6.50) 1-3/4 lengths away third.
