Docklands has not won since Royal Ascot in June, but consistent exposure to elite international company tells only part of the story.
The five-year-old entire now adds Hong Kong to his résumé when he contests the Group 1 Hong Kong Mile (1600m) at Sha Tin on Sunday.
Trained by Harry Eustace and ridden by Tom Marquand, Docklands peaked with a Group 1 victory in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Subsequent runs at the highest level in Britain, France and Japan have tested the globetrotter.
“The Japanese experience was fantastic but hard,” Eustace said.
“The competition and the travelling for him was hard and we weren’t helped by drawing 16 of 18.”
“I was delighted with the run and he has really bounced out of it well.”
Eustace believes the Sha Tin mile could suit despite facing stars Voyage Bubble and My Wish.
Marquand will also be chasing improvement at the course after limited success from 35 rides.
