Trainer Travis Doudle is hopeful he can rejuvenate the career of former Group 1 contender Snow Patrol, who debuts for his stable in the opener at Morphettville Parks on Saturday.
Doudle secured last year’s Group 2 Autumn Stakes winner for just $9,000 through Inglis Digital, aware the gelding came with some soundness concerns.
Previously trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr, the five-year-old returned from a year-long break when unplaced in the Listed Weekend Hussler Stakes before being offered for sale.
“There’s no such thing as a cheap horse but if it turns out that we can get him fit and healthy…it’s going to be an absolute steal,” Doudle said.
“He galloped on Saturday and I’m really happy with him. There’s nothing to suggest he won’t run a big race.”
Snow Patrol, to be ridden by apprentice Caitlin Tootell, is rated a $11 chance for the Benchmark 86 handicap.
