Dwyer upbeat as Asfoora targets Flying Five Stakes in Ireland

Trainer Henry Dwyer says Asfoora has thrived since her breakthrough Group 1 win at York and is in top order for Sunday’s Flying Five Stakes at The Curragh.

Dwyer may not travel for the race, preferring to stay in Australia, but he has earmarked the Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp on October 5 as her next major assignment.

“She bounced out of that last run, and we can’t be any happier with her going into Sunday,” Dwyer said.
“If I do go, it will be a late dash … but I’m definitely going over for France if she runs there.”

While Asfoora continues her European campaign, Dwyer’s local stable is also firing. At Sandown on Wednesday, Paradise Storm defeated stablemate The Autumn Belle in the MRC Spring Rewards Handicap (2400m).

The French-bred gelding has taken time to settle, but Dwyer is now considering a tilt at the Listed R M Ansett Classic (2400m) at Mornington on September 28 before sending him to the paddock.
