Trainer David McColm is confident Far Too Easy is ready to hit back in Saturday’s Listed Glasshouse Handicap (1400m) at the Sunshine Coast.
The gelding finished a disappointing 14th in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m), but McColm blames the hard Eagle Farm surface, which he says the horse simply doesn’t handle.
“The track was really, really hard,” McColm said.
“Regan Bayliss just said to me from the moment he jumped, he just didn’t feel comfortable.”
Far Too Easy was runner-up to Stradbroke winner War Machine at Doomben before that, and McColm says a sharp gallop last Saturday at the Gold Coast has the horse “well within himself”.
A softer surface this weekend is expected to suit him perfectly.
Far Too Easy won last year’s The Kosciuszko (1200m), but won’t return due to McColm’s recent move from Murwillumbah to the Gold Coast, making him ineligible.
He’s currently $4.50 for the Glasshouse, just behind Warnie at $4.00.
