Gailo Chop claims Group 1 Caulfield Stakes

The Darren Weir-trained Gailo Chop has held out Aidan O’Brien’s fast-finishing Johannes Vermeer to win the Group One Caulfield Stakes.

Capping a successful comeback from injury, Gailo Chop made all the running in the weight-for-race to fend off Johannes Vermeer with Jon Snow taking the minor placing.

An experienced global traveller in his first preparation for Weir, Gailo Chop won the 2015 Group One Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington when trained out of France.
