Golden Slipper champion Marhoona has returned in style, taking out a strong 800m trial at Hawkesbury on Monday.
The Michael Freedman-trained filly held off Headwall to score by half a length, with Shangri La Spring, Jedibeel and Ostraka close behind.
“It was a nice trial, she looks to have come back in good order and she pulled up nice and clean after it,” Freedman said.
Ridden by Keegan Latham, Marhoona settled in third before hugging the rail and finishing strongly under light riding.
The filly, who has won two of her three starts, is being aimed at the $750,000 Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley on September 6, though the Concorde Stakes and Furious Stakes remain options.
Stablemate Apocalyptic also trialled well, finishing sixth, with Freedman pleased by her effort against seasoned rivals.
Other stars on show included Randwick Guineas winner Linebacker and Melbourne Cup hopefuls Sir Delius and Vauban.
