Trainer Gerald Ryan is banking on a return to Randwick to reignite Green Shadows’ form after a lacklustre showing at Rosehill.
The gelding has a poor record at his home track, with just two placings from seven starts, both early in his career. Ryan was left disappointed by Green Shadows’ sixth-place finish behind Thunderlips last month.
“He went ordinary here the other day but he doesn’t go well any time we run him at Rosehill,” Ryan said.
“He just doesn’t go on his home track. He goes well at Randwick, so that might make a difference.”
Green Shadows lines up in Saturday’s TAB Handicap (1400m) where he boasts a win and three placings from 10 starts at Randwick.
Two runs back, he finished just two lengths off the winner in the Listed Civic Stakes over the same course and distance.
“He has been going off on the track of a morning, pig rooting and squealing and bucking and that’s the way he has to be,” Ryan said.
Drawn in barrier four, Alysha Collett takes the ride against 13 rivals, including the in-form It’s A Knockout.
