Gringotts will look to reignite his spring campaign in the $1.5 million Alan Brown Stakes at Rosehill after two forced scratchings.
The Group 1 winner missed the 7 Stakes (1600m) and Shannon Stakes (1500m) due to poor blood readings, but trainer Ciaron Maher says it was only a mild virus.
“There are a lot of viruses around this year and it was just unfortunate that he got one,” Maher said. “He seems good now… it should be a nice race for him to kick off.”
Originally set for the King Charles III Stakes, Gringotts may now be aimed at The Big Dance on Melbourne Cup day.
Meanwhile, Golden Slipper winner Marhoona returns in the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) ahead of a possible Coolmore Stud Stakes tilt.
“She has come through her first-up run really well,” trainer Michael Freedman said. “She’s definitely lit up since then.”
