The Lindsay Park team admits the Moir Stakes is no easy task for Oak Hill, but they believe the sprinter can rebound from a below-par effort.
A winner over 1000m at Moonee Valley last month, Oak Hill returns to the same track and trip on Saturday after finishing fifth as favourite in the Listed Carlyon Stakes.
Ben Hayes said the stable has adjusted the gelding’s training after he raced too fresh last start.
“We trusted him into the race, keeping him fresh, and he raced fresh,” Hayes said.
“This time, we’ve changed our training a little bit into this race. He’s been working well at home, he’s been super relaxed.”
Blake Shinn reunites with Oak Hill, having partnered him to his first two wins. Despite drawing barrier 11, Hayes remains upbeat.
“I think the wide draw is good for him,” he said.
“It’s a hard race, but if he gets the right run, I think he will be in the finish.”
