Now Hong Kong-based jockey Hugh Bowman says he is honoured to reunite with Chris Waller for a shot at another Cox Plate at Moonee Valley.
Bowman and Waller famously teamed up with Winx to win the race four times, and Bowman has accepted the ride on Aeliana in what will be the final Cox Plate before the track’s redevelopment.
“Moonee Valley brings many great memories to both of us as a partnership,” Bowman said.
“The history of Winx and with Chris deciding to run Aeliana, he reached out to see if I would be interested in coming back. I was delighted to get the call.”
Aeliana ($8) joins stablemates Via Sistina and Buckaroo in Saturday’s 2040m feature.
Bowman said he trusts Waller’s judgment and believes Aeliana can cause an upset.
“I just want to do my job and ensure Aeliana can run a peak performance… I truly believe she can.”
