Veteran Victorian jockey Roger Booth has died of an apparent heart attack after riding in a race at Darwin’s Fannie Bay racecourse.
Booth was in Darwin riding for Kyneton trainer Neil Dyer in the lead-up to the annual Cup carnival.
Australian Jockeys Association chairman Des O’Keeffe said Booth collapsed after the second race on Saturday.
He said he was revived and transported to Darwin Hospital where he had a suspected major heart attack.
The 55-year-old was a popular figure based at Mornington in Victoria for many years.
