Irish horse Johannes Vermeer is now the outright $5 favourite for the Caulfield Cup after drawing barrier two in the $3 million race.
Trained by Aidan O’Brien, Johannes Vermeer had been vying for favouritism in Saturday’s 2400m handicap with Humidor and Bonneval.
The Darren Weir-trained Humidor is at $6 and will jump from barrier seven while New Zealand mare Bonneval is at $6.50 after drawing gate 14 in the field of 17.
Humidor’s stablemate Amelie’s Star has barrier 13 and is at $8.50 and the only other runner under double figures in the TAB’s market.
Naturalism Stakes winner Harlem will jump from the inside barrier while Sir Isaac Newton has the widest gate.
