Boom galloper Jokers Grin is back in work and looking stronger than ever, according to trainer Bernie Miller.
The four-year-old son of Maschino became a national headline act in April when he stormed home to win the $5 million Quokka, delivering Miller his biggest career moment.
Ridden by Pat Carbery, Jokers Grin flew home at Ascot to defeat a top-class field, including the heavily favoured Overpass, who had been unbeaten in WA and previously claimed the Quokka and Winterbottom Stakes.
Now eyeing the Ascot Pinnacles carnival, Miller says his stable star has returned bigger and better.
“This is his sixth week back in work and he’s progressing real good, lovely,” Miller told Tabradio.
“He feels great, and he looks an absolute picture… I reckon he’s put on a minimum 50kg.”
Jokers Grin, unbeaten outside of a fourth on debut, boasts seven wins and $2.2 million in prize money.
He’ll resume in the G3 Colonel Reeves Stakes (1100m) before the G1 Winterbottom on November 29, with a possible tilt at the The Gold Rush (1400m) to follow.
“I reckon he’ll crack 1400m for sure,” Miller said.
