Richard Litt is pleased with the progress of his Gosford Guineas contender but remains cautious with lightly raced filly Caffe Florian.
While she has already posted two wins from just three starts, Litt is determined to continue taking a patient approach.
Named after one of Italy’s oldest coffee houses, expectations around Caffe Florian are building, albeit in a controlled manner.
The three-year-old has continued to impress her trainer as she steps up in class this weekend.
A $400,000 buy from the 2024 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, Caffe Florian is by Snitzel out of Madam Andree.
She has recorded both wins at Canterbury and also finished placed on debut.
Caffe Florian heads to the Listed Gosford Guineas (1200m) on Sunday as the $2.45 favourite.
“She has always been a lovely filly and she has got the pedigree to match it so we’ve always had high hopes of her all the way along,” Litt said.
“We’ve given her plenty of time and she has come along nicely. What she has done so far has been excellent.
“She has to take the next step on Sunday but there are no expectations going around.”
Litt has also been happy with how the filly has trained since her most recent win.
“She’s ultra fit and she seems to still be in a really good headspace,” he said.
Beyond Sunday, Litt remains in no rush to map out her next move.
