Lyre has stormed home to win Melbourne’s only Group One race for two-year-olds, the $1.5 million Blue Diamond Stakes.
Trainer David Hayes, who was chasing a seventh win in the race, just missed with filly Lankan Star second.
Chris Bleg-trained Free of Debt finished third.
