Magic Time primed for another successful autumn campaign

Magic Time, a remarkable mare with six wins and over $2.6 million in prizemoney, is set to kick off her latest campaign in the Expressway Stakes (1200m) at Randwick this Saturday. Trainer Grahame Begg believes she has returned even better this time around.

The dual Group 1 winner is aiming for a third major victory in the Canterbury Stakes (1200m) in three weeks, but Begg felt she needed a run before tackling a Group 1 event.

“Going into Group Ones first-up is tough; they need that extra seasoning,” Begg said. “She had a light spring with three runs, and now the focus is on gearing her up for the autumn.”

Magic Time excels in all conditions, particularly wet tracks, and Begg is hopeful for a wet Sydney autumn to suit her. He’s also impressed by her return, describing her as being at her peak.

“I think she’s maybe a touch better,” Begg said. “She looks great and has been performing well in her jump-outs and trials.”

Begg is keeping options open, with races like the All Aged Stakes (1400m) and Doncaster Mile (1600m) in the mix.

Stablemate Kundalini will also race at Randwick in the Group 3 Triscay Stakes (1200m), with Begg aiming to add a black-type win to her record.

“She’s starting to come into her own,” Begg said. “I believe I Am Invincibles get better with age, and she’s a real talent.”

Since relocating to Victoria in 2016, Begg has enjoyed success with Magic Time, Passive Aggressive, and Written By.
