Irish horse Riven Light has been ruled out of the rest of the Melbourne spring carnival by a leg injury suffered in the Caulfield Stakes.

Riven Light finished seventh in Saturday’s Group One race over 2000 metres won by Gailo Chop.

Trainer Willie Mullins was at the Newmarket meeting in England when he heard the news.

“Unfortunately Riven Light has suffered a fracture to a joint on his off-foreleg and that rules out any possibility of him running again while in Australia,” Mullins told the Racing Post.

The trainer also has Melbourne Cup aspirants Wicklow Brave, Tiberian and Max Dynamite in Australia.
