Brad Parnham and Stephen Miller are hoping to overturn a run of near-misses when they saddle up Elite Missile in Saturday’s Listed Belmont Guineas (1600m) at Pinjarra.
The pair have endured a frustrating patch, with Magnificent Andy finishing second in the Northam Stakes, Belmont Sprint, and Hyperion Stakes.
That trend continued when Elite Missile stormed home for second behind Opportunistic in the Raconteur Stakes (1400m), running the fastest final 600m.
Drawn wide and forced to settle last, the son of Smart Missile impressed Parnham with his powerful finish.
“I’m obviously real keen on his chances,” Parnham told Tabradio.
“The way he was finishing off you would say the 1600m is going to probably suit him better.”
The duo previously won the Belmont Guineas with Variation in 2017 and will be hoping Elite Missile can help them break the bridesmaid streak.
