Queensland filly Isotope ready for Darby Munro Stakes

Trainer Tony Gollan believes Isotope has form around the right horses and can make her presence felt during the Sydney autumn carnival.

Promising Queensland filly Isotope is back on track after a race fall at the Gold Coast and trainer Tony Gollan is looking forward to seeing how she measures up in Sydney.

Having overcome earlier issues with her barrier manners, Isotope has established an encouraging record with four wins from eight starts.

She has not raced since the Magic Millions Guineas where she started favourite and sensationally lost rider Ryan Maloney at the top of the straight.

Thankfully, she came through the mishap without incident and Gollan has been rapt with her progress since returning to work.

“Everything she was showing me in her work, she was really coming to the party. She felt great, her action was terrific, her recovery was terrific,” Gollan said.

“I gave her a jump out in the same one as Jonker and she probably went better than him, although she did have her full race gear on because she’s had a few quirks in the barriers.”

Isotope will make her Sydney debut in Saturday’s Listed Darby Munro Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill where she will clash with another emerging galloper in Private Eye.

The filly split Rothfire and multiple stakeswinner Wild Ruler in the Champagne Classic at Eagle Farm last winter and it is that performance that has Gollan convinced she can measure up.

“All her formlines tell me she is thereabouts and every time I have given her a break and brought her back, she’s a better filly,” Gollan said.

Isotope is yet to be tried in heavy ground but she is unbeaten in two starts on slow tracks and Gollan expects her to handle the testing conditions at Rosehill.
