Randwick return expected to benefit Beadman

A return to his home turf at Randwick is anticipated to be more favourable for Beadman, following a disappointing performance during a short trip to Melbourne where the talented sprinter encountered the notorious Caulfield curse.

The unpredictable nature of the Caulfield track has proven challenging for numerous Sydney-trained horses, and the four-year-old was no exception. He struggled from a wide barrier in the Manikato Stakes (1200m) and was never a genuine contender.

“He was lost going to Caulfield,” trainer Peter Snowden stated. “He didn’t know where he was. He still ran on late, but he drew really badly and made the ground late when the race was all over. It was very fast time, too. They ran just over 1:08 and the rail was out ‘100’ metres, so it was amazing time they ran.”

Prior to this, Beadman had shown promise with an eye-catching third place behind Everest hopefuls Tempted and Headwall in the Concorde Stakes (1000m) at Randwick. He now returns to familiar surroundings for Saturday’s lucrative Sydney Stakes (1200m) at his home track.

Snowden indicated that the horse had recuperated well since his return from Melbourne and expressed confidence in a significantly improved showing.

“He had a couple of days in the paddock on the way home, and he’s freshened up nicely, so he should run well,” he added.

Beadman is set to start from barrier 11 in the 16-horse field, with Zac Purton, the jockey who guided Ka Ying Rising and won last year’s Everest consolation on Rothfire, taking the reins.

The entire has seen some early support in betting, shortening from $11 to $8.50, and possesses a strong record on wet ground.

Snowden will also have Plaintiff contesting the Silver Eagle (1300m). The mare aims to emulate her strong first-up fourth to Savvy Hallie in the Sheraco Stakes (1200m), following a midfield finish behind Tempted in the Premiere Stakes (1200m) last start.

Beadman is expected to perform strongly back at Randwick this Saturday. You can find the best racing odds for the Sydney Stakes at Australian betting sites.
