Repossession will look to cement his place in the Pinnacles carnival picture when he lines up in Saturday’s Listed Beaufine Stakes (1000m) at Pinjarra Park.
The rising star has won both starts this prep, including an impressive victory over Magnique and Art Session down the Pinjarra straight.
Now facing older horses for the first time, co-trainer Chris Gangemi is eager to see how he measures up.
“He’s only had the six starts, so he’s got to this level quite quickly,” Gangemi told Racing WA Thoroughbreds.
“If he happens to win this week, then that would get his rating up nicely for later in the year.”
“We’re pretty confident he will end up in open class.”
Repossession’s only defeats came in last year’s Max Simmonds Stakes and Placid Ark Stakes.
Despite a recent hoof abscess, Gangemi said the gelding has recovered well and impressed in his final gallop.
Stablemate Phanta resumes in the same race, with Gangemi noting he’s a wet-tracker.
“He’s no hope if the track isn’t wet,” he said.
Repossession is a $2.30 favourite, with Phanta a $12 chance.
Gangemi also expects Earth God to run well in the Hygain Handicap (1000m).
