Seiners Express bounces back in the Silver Bowl Series Final

The disappointment of a last-place finish at Sandown by Seiners Express has been erased with victory his comfortable win at Flemington.

A perfect ground saving ride by Harry Coffey has landed Seiners Express victory in the Silver Bowl Series Final at Flemington.

The victory turned around the fortunes of the connections of the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained galloper who had finished last in his previous outing at Sandown on June 12.

Seiners Express was diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia following that effort with the son of Shamexpress making a quick recovery from the ailment.

After settling back in the field, Coffey was able to weave his way between runners before guiding Seiners Express ($18) to a three-quarter length win from the $4 Ladbrokes favourite Seb Song with Reliable Dude ($7.50) the same margin off third.

Lucy Yeomans, representing Maher and Eustace, said the stable is fond of Seiners Express who landed his second win from seven career starts.

“We just told Harry to ride him where he’s comfortable today and not flush him out too soon and to try and get towed into the race,” Yeomans said.

“Harry rode him beautifully. He snuck up on the fence and really exposed him late and he was so strong through the line.”

Coffey said it was his intention to follow Jamie Kah on the favourite Seb Song, but said there was a lot of manoeuvring early in the race.

“I got pushed to the inside just off her heels and I thought I’ll just have to cop this now,” Coffey said.

“During the race, they kept running along nicely. I was traveling super and I thought if I got a bit of room, he’s a chance of running third.

“We obviously had a lot of luck when the runs came but when he’s ridden that way and the luck comes, he can be pretty dynamic and that’s what he was today.”
