Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman look set to add another Guineas win to their spring tally, with Sheza Alibi heading the market for Saturday’s $400,000 Sandown Guineas.
The Pakenham-based team claimed the Thousand Guineas with Ole Dancer last month, and Coleman is thrilled their Queensland visitor has earned her shot at the 1600-metre Group 2.
“These fillies, you’re just always looking to build on their pedigree, so this is a brilliant opportunity to try and do that with her,” Coleman said.
Sheza Alibi arrived in Victoria with strong northern form, including wins at Rockhampton and in the $100,000 Townsville 2YO Classic, plus a Listed placing at Eagle Farm.
She finished third in the Gothic Stakes on debut in the south before powering home to win the Group 3 The Vanity on Derby Day.
Her decisive 1¾-length victory convinced connections she will relish stepping up to the mile.
“She’s given us every indication that she’s going to eat it up,” Coleman said.
Luke Nolen retains the ride, jumping from the inside draw in a field of 12.
