Sydney Conquest before Magic Millions Classic bid for Snowden 2YO

Juvenile Russian Conquest will bid to make it two wins from as many starts when she lines up at Randwick.

Debut winner Russian Conquest can move a step closer to her Magic Millions goal when she returns at the Boxing Day meeting at Randwick.

A daughter of first season sire Russian Revolution, the filly was an impressive winner of the Max Lees Classic at Newcastle when she tracked wide from an awkward draw and dug deep to score.

She has also shown good ability in her work at home and trainers Peter and Paul Snowden are confident she can underline her Magic Millions credentials when she returns in the Drinkwise Plate (1100m) on Sunday.

“There was no fluke in her win at Newcastle, it was a strong effort,” Peter Snowden said.

“She is Magic Millions eligible and I think she is up to that class.”

Russian Conquest was given a short break after her win at The Hunter meeting and her trainers were buoyed by her effort behind Pantonario in a recent barrier trial when she stretched out nicely over the final stages.

Regan Bayliss partnered her in that heat and has the ride on Sunday.

“She trialled really well the other day off a minimal amount of work in very fast time,” Peter Snowden said.

“She has come back in really good order.”

Russian Conquest is a $6.50 chance to remain unbeaten and is $26 in early markets for the Magic Millions Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast on January 15.
