Spring hopefuls set to shine in Rosehill trials

Established stars and rising talents will share the spotlight at Tuesday’s Rosehill trials, with several promising three-year-olds stepping out.

Among them is Brad Widdup’s Savvy Hallie, who returns for her second trial this prep in a 900m heat featuring ATC Sires’ runner-up State Visit.

The daughter of Hellbent is winless in four starts but boasts three runner-up finishes and heads a strong crop for Widdup, including last weekend’s Randwick winner Nashville Jack.

“Her and Nashville Jack look pretty exciting so fingers crossed one or both of them can measure up,” Widdup said.

“There is a lot of water to go under the bridge, but I’m very happy with her.

“It’s hard to know until you produce them but she is going the right way.”

Savvy Hallie won her first trial at Rosehill on July 15 — her first outing since chasing home Golden Slipper placegetter Tempted in the Group 2 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m).

She also ran second to Champagne Stakes winner Nepotism in the Group 3 Baillieu Stakes (1400m).

Other youngsters trialling include Champagne Stakes runner-up Within The Law, Black Opal winner King Of Pop, Pago Pago victor Skyhook, Golden Gift placegetter West Of Swindon, and Canonbury Stakes winner Blitzburg.

Kindergarten Stakes winner North England headlines the second 900m course proper trial, joined by Magic Night Stakes winner Memo and Group 1 winner Another Prophet.

The morning begins with a 1000m Group-class heat featuring Arapaho, Land Legend and Interpretation.
