Yulong has confirmed that star mares Via Sistina and Treasurethe Moment will avoid each other until their clash in the Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 25.
Chris Waller’s Via Sistina will bypass the Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) on September 13 and instead head to either the 7 Stakes (1600m) at Randwick or the Underwood Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield on September 20. She will then run in the Turnbull Stakes (2000m) before the Cox Plate.
Matt Laurie’s Treasurethe Moment, fresh from a dominant Memsie Stakes (1400m) win, will contest the Makybe Diva before heading to the Might And Power (2000m) on October 11 as her final lead-up.
Yulong Racing Manager Troy Stephens said the decision was made to benefit both mares long-term. “This season’s Cox Plate is certainly not a two-horse race, but it will definitely add to the spectacle if these two great mares line up for the first time together in October.”
