Tentyris back on track for Coolmore Stud Stakes after Gothic Stakes win

Tentyris is back in the frame for the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) after a strong victory in the Listed Gothic Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.

The Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained colt was a leading Golden Slipper fancy before a stress fracture sidelined him, but he showed his quality on Saturday with a powerful finish under Mark Zahra.

Tentyris ($2.25 fav) came from off the pace to reel in Raging Force ($4.40) by a long neck, with Sheeza Alibi ($16) third.

“It was pretty gutting to miss the Slipper as a two-year-old, as we felt like he was the best chance we had in that race,” Sam Freedman said.
“So hopefully, it’s a blessing in disguise… we’re keen to be the fresh horse on the scene for the Coolmore.”

Freedman said Tentyris had returned to work 30kg heavier and praised the stable’s effort to get him race-fit, adding the colt still had “improvement in him.”
