Caulfield Guineas Free Tips, Bets and Field Preview – 2020

The Neds Caulfield Guineas is always one of the standout contests of the Spring Racing Carnival, and we are set for another strong edition of the time-honoured race on Saturday!

Some of the country’s best three-year-olds will take their place in the field of fifteen, including Neds Blue Diamond winner Tagaloa, two-time Group 1 winner King’s Legacy and Golden Rose champion Ole Kirk.

Caulfield Guineas – Winner

No. 1 Tagaloa – Bet Now: $6.00

He is one of my favourite horses, and I simply cannot wait to see what Tagaloa will do over a mile in the Neds Caulfield Guineas.

The Lord Kanaloa colt hasn’t run a bad race since debuting, and he was obviously outstanding throughout his two-year-old season, capped with by a Group 1 win.

He returned a pleasing effort to finish third in the McNeil Stakes when resuming, and I thought he was extremely tough to finish sixth amongst open company in the Neds Sir Rupert Clarke last time out, given Michael Walker had him caught wide most of the way.

Fitter third-up, back to three-year-olds company and a new jockey in the saddle (Craig Williams), I think he’ll be very hard to beat.

Caulfield Guineas – 2nd

No. 2 King’s Legacy – Bet Now: $6.50

One horse that is proven over the mile and at the grade is King’s Legacy, and I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish of the Neds Caulfield Guineas.

His wins in the Group 1 Inglis Sires’ and the Champagne Stakes at the end of his autumn prep were simply outstanding, but he clearly needed the run when he finished at the tail of the field in the Run To The Rose first-up this time.

The small rise in trip proved ideally when he stormed home on the rails to fill the minors of the Golden Rose two weeks ago, and he’ll only be better third-up and out to the mile on Saturday.

Caulfield Guineas – 3rd

No. 3 Ole Kirk – Bet Now: $3.20

He was a very impressive winner of the Golden Rose, and the Neds Caulfield Guineas does look the next logical step for Ole Kirk.

Ole Kirk hasn’t run a bad race in seven appearances since debuting, but it is fair to say that he has continued to improve with each appearance.

He’s drawn to receive a lovely run on Saturday, the Wizard of the West jumps into the saddle and if the horse maintains his current trajectory, he’ll be right in the finish again.

Caulfield Guineas – 4th

No. 9 Mo’unga – Bet Now: $6.50

Mo’unga will put an unbeaten record on the line in the Neds Caulfield Guineas and while im confident that he’ll race well, I think a couple of these have him covered on class.

The Savabeel colt put the writing on the wall with an easy win on the Gold Coast on debut, and he has only continued to improve with racing and as the bar has been raised, culminating in a dominant win in the Listed Dulcify Quality at Rosehill last time out.

The Spring Champion Stakes in Sydney looked the perfect race for him, and given that trainer Chris Waller and connections have instead opted to send him south and to the tougher option, that’s probably worth consideration when putting together your Neds Caulfield Guineas Day best bets.

Caulfield Guineas Suggested Bets

  • 2 Units straight out #1 Tagaloa
  • Boxed Trifecta of the selections above
