Group 1 racing returns to Queensland on Saturday, and what a race it is!
Once the BTC Cup, now the Doomben 10,000, this $1 million feature has understandably drawn some of the country’s best sprinters including Eduardo and Trekking.
There’s value to be found in the market and you can find my 2021 Doomben 10,000 Tips below.
Doomben 10,000 – Winner
No. 1 Trekking – Bet Now: $7.50
He clearly needed the run when he finished down the order in the Victory Stakes but for mine, Trekking is just the best horse in the race, and I think he’ll be crowned the Doomben 10,000 winner.
A multiple Group 1 winner, Trekking has had success in Brisbane previously, having saluted in the Stradbroke Handicap two years ago, and has continued to return big performances around our best sprinters, in our best races.
He has drawn wide, but I think he’ll be able to overcome it and with even luck, he can fight out the finish.
Doomben 10,000 – 2nd
No. 2 Eduardo – Bet Now: $2.20
Eduardo will surely be in this for a long way, and he wouldn’t look out of place in the Doomben 10,000 winner’s stall.
Eduardo was a consistent performer during the early stages of his career, but there is no doubt that he has gone to another level since transferring to the care of Joe Pride, winning multiple good black type sprints and recording his first win at the highest level in this year’s edition of The Galaxy.
Her was last seen filling the minors in the TJ Smith Stakes and he has been kept up to the mark with a trial since that effort.
He’ll go to the lead, set a good pace and give them something to chase.
Doomben 10,000 – 3rd
No. 8 Graff – Bet Now: $21.00
Graff typically keeps his best racing for early in his preparations and I think that he’s a chance of running into the finish of the Doomben 10,000, at a price.
The Star Witness entire was transferring to the care of Danny O’Brien in spring and won the Caulfield Sprint first-up, but failed to make much of an impact in three subsequent starts.
He has since been transferred north to Tony Gollan, and he returned a slick trial here at Doomben last month.
He’ll need a lot to go right, but I’d hate to miss the price if he puts it all together.
Doomben 10,000 – 4th
No. 9 Wild Ruler – Bet Now: $4.60
Three-year-old Wild Ruler gets into this race well under the conditions and certainly has the class and ability to win.
The Snitzel colt has had three starts back this time, winning twice, highlighted by his impressive performance against some of his age group’s best in the Group 2 Arrowfield Sprint last time out.
He wasn’t able to account for Eduardo and a few others in The Galaxy, so I really can’t put him ahead of that horse in my Doomben 10,000 tips.
