BEST BET: No. 5 Thunberg – Bet Now: $3.70
Thunberg was narrowly denied by War Correspondent in the Carbine Cup Plate, but she is a good bet to turn-the-tables on her rival in the Pfd Food Services 3yo Classic.
The Squamosa filly generally improves second-up and she has recorded two wins from her four race starts at Launceston.
She makes her own luck right on the speed and Sigrid Carr will give her rivals something to chase.
Launceston – Race 7 4:26PM AEST
No. 2 Newhart – Bet Now: $1.95
The market suggests that the Mowbray Stakes looks to be a race in two between Mandela Effect and Newhart, but it is Newhart that is the horse to beat for mine.
Newhart has gone to another level this campaign.
His victory in the Devonport Cup was tough and he could hardly have been more impressive in the Thomas Lyons Stakes at Hobart last start, where he beat Mystic Journey by almost four lengths.
Barrier one is ideal and he should have every possible chance with Craig Newitt in the saddle.
Launceston – Race 8 5:01PM AEST
No. 8 Classic Weiwei – Bet Now: $7.50
Classic Weiwei finished second behind Double You Tee in the Ladbrokes Hobart Cup and I think that he can turn-the-tables on his rival in the Ladbrokes Launceston Cup.
He doesn’t have to get as far back in the run as he did in the Hobart Cup and he meets Double You Tee almost five kilograms at the weights.
$9 is well and truly over the odds in an open race.
Launceston – Race 9 5:44PM AEST
No. 1 Deroche – Bet Now: $3.30
This is a fascinating edition of the Vamos Stakes and there are a host of winning chances.
Deroche flopped badly in the Bow Mistress on Ladbrokes Hobart Cup Day, but that performance was too bad to be true and her best form does give her an edge over the rest of this field.
She won this race 12 months ago and she has scored two wins from as many starts over this track and distance.
