The Magic Millions 2YO Classic is without doubt the highlight of Australian racing each January and a typically exciting edition of the feature race looms on the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Betting suggests that it’s a race in two between She’s All Class and Swift Witness, but the Magic Millions 2YO Classic result is simply never a foregone conclusion, and there is some serious value to be found in the market again.
I’ve run the rule over the capacity field following Tuesday’s barrier draw, and you can find my 2021 Magic Millions 2YO Classic tips below.
Magic Millions Classic – Winner
No. 11 She’s All Class – Bet Now: $4.60
Her performance and win in the Wyong Magic Millions race was simply too dominant to ignore, and She’s All Class will take a power of beating in Saturday’s feature.
The daughter of I Am Invincible returned a competitive effort to fille the minors in the Victory Vein Plate on debut at Randwick in October, but clearly enjoyed enormous improvement into the Wyong race and put paid to her rivals.
She clearly races well fresh, she has had a nice trial in the lead-up to this and will be steered by James McDonald.
Magic Millions Classic – 2nd
No. 14 Miss Hipstar – Bet Now: $15.00
Miss Hipstar has enjoyed a lovely start to her racing career and she looks to be the value in Magic Millions 2YO Classic betting at her current price ($16 at publish).
The Star Turn filly won each of her first two career starts in style, and while she was well beaten by Swift Witness last weekend, her run from back in the field, looping her rivals and attacking the line to finish third was arguably the run of the race.
She looks to be at peak fitness for this contest and the wide draw isn’t too much of an issue as she’ll settle off the pace regardless.
With appropriate luck, she can be in the finish again.
Magic Millions Classic – 3rd
No. 4 Shaquero – Bet Now: $11.00
Shaquero has improved for two starts back from a spell and is ready to peak third-up in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
The Shalaa colt took early favouritism in betting for this race when a dominant winner of the Group 3 Breeders’ Plate at Randwick on October, but over raced in the McLachlan Stakes at Eagle Farm when resuming on Boxing Day and finished seventh.
There was a lot more to like about his performance for second in the 1100m Quality here last weekend and he looks to be a horse that will race well on the short back-up.
Magic Millions Classic – 4th
No. 12 Swift Witness – Bet Now: $4.20
Swift Witness’ performance and win on the Gold Coast last weekend was outstanding, but there is no doubt that everything went her way, and this is definitely a big rise in class for her.
The is absolutely no knock on anything she has done so far; she finished third behind She’s All Class at Wyong on debut, albeit well beaten, and she is more than worthy of her position in this field.
She’ll need plenty of luck to find a good position from the central draw, but her class is sure to take her a long way in this contest.
