Memsie Stakes Free Tips, Bets and Field Preview – 2021

The first Group 1 feature of the Melbourne Spring Carnival has arrived, and what a race is set to be!

Prior to the Winx Stakes being upgraded in Syndey, the Memsie Stakes was always the first top line contest of the spring, but it has lost absolutely none of its draw, and a typically classy field will step out at Caulfield on Saturday.

I’ve run the rule over the entire field, and you can find my complete 2021 Memsie Stakes Tips below.

Memsie Stakes – Winner

No. 9 Colette – Bet Now: $11.00

I was going to put her on top in Sydney last week but she didn’t accept, and I am more than happy to roll Colette over to my 2021 Memsie Stakes Tips.

The Hallowed Crown mare has been nothing short of outstanding since making her debut, and she enjoyed a meteoric rise through the grades in her debut prep, culminating in a dominant win in the ATC Oaks.

Her spring prep last year was highlighted by an impressive win in the Golden Eagle, and there is no doubt that her best effort in autumn this year was her fresh win in the Apollo Stakes.

She’s had the benefit of a trial in the lead-up to her return and is certainly up to the class.

Memsie Stakes – 2nd

No. 7 Aegon – Bet Now: $12.00

Star kiwi Aegon will make his return to the races and Australia in the Memsie Stakes, and he can fight out the finish.

The Sacred Falls gelding won each of his first five career starts including the Group 1 NZ 2000 Guineas, and he announced himself to the Australian racing community with an incredible win in the Hobartville in February.

While he didn’t fire in either of the Randwick Guineas or Doncaster Mile, he has reportedly enjoyed his time away from the track, and he is yet to taste anything but success at this point of his prep.

Memsie Stakes – 3rd

No. 2 Behemoth – Bet Now: $4.20

The reigning Memsie Stakes champion returned an eye-catching effort to win (on protest) the Spring Stakes when fresh, and I’m more than happy to have him in my trifecta this weekend.

Behemoth has been an outstanding horse throughout his career, but there is no doubt that he went to a new level last spring, winning this race and the Neds Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes most notably.

He rarely runs a bad race, the booking of Jamie Kah to ride is obviously enormous and with even luck, I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish again.

Memsie Stakes – 4th

No. 10 Tofane – Bet Now: $4.50

I think she might find a couple of these rivals a little too good at this point of her prep, but there’s obviously no denying three-time Group 1 winner Tofane’s class, and she can fight into the Memsie Stakes first four.

Tofane recorded her first win at the highest level in the 2020 edition of the All Aged Stakes, and while she couldn’t return to the peak during her spring prep last year, she was nothing short of outstanding during the recent Brisbane winter, adding both the Stradbroke Handicap and Tattersall’s Tiara to her CV.

Craig Williams rides from the good draw and she’s certainly up to a bold performance.
