Queen Elizabeth Stakes Free Tips, Bets and Field Preview – 2020

The Queen Elizabeth Stakes has been one of the Autumn Carnival’s showpieces for six or seven years now and although this year’s prizemoney has been affected by the outbreak of COVID-19, a world-class field has still be confirmed to step out at Randwick on Saturday.

Winx won this race for three-consecutive years and because the Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner isn’t a foregone conclusion in 2020, it is shaping as a terrific betting race.

Queen Elizabeth Stakes – Winner

No. 1 Danon Premium – Bet Now: $3.60

James McDonald is jumping off Verry Elleegant to ride Danon Premium in the 2020 Queen Elizabeth Stakes and straight off the bat, that is a great indicator as to what to expect from this horse. Digging further though, the Japanese raider has form around some of the world’s best horses and was simply outstanding in 2019. He beat subsequent Cox Plate champion Lys Gracieux in the Group 2 Kinko Sho, ran second behind Almond Eye in the Group 1 Tenno Sho and second behind Indy Champ in the Group 1 Mile Championship, most notably. A repeat of any of those performances would simply be too good for these rivals.

Queen Elizabeth Stakes – 2nd

No. 2 Addeybb – Bet Now: $4.60

Addeybb could hardly have been more impressive when winning the Ranvet Stakes at his Australian debut and he will only improve into the Queen Elizabeth Stakes. The Pivotal gelding has been a strong and consistent performer for the William Haggas stable throughout his career and hasn’t finished worse than second at his last five starts – winning the Listed Wolferton Stakes and the Group 3 Rose Of Lancaster in Britain prior to heading out here. He looked beaten by Verry Elleegant three weeks ago, but produced a monumental kick in the final 200m to win, and he’ll retain the services of the in-form Tom Marquand for the Queen Elizabeth.

Queen Elizabeth Stakes – 3rd

No. 5 Vow And Declare – Bet Now: $18.00

Melbourne Cup winner Vow And Declare was outstanding when he resumed for third in the Australian Cup and he’s another horse that will take improvement into the Queen Elizabeth Stakes. The Declaration Of War gelding first stamped himself as one to watch during his three-year-old season but clearly, went to another level in spring when he won the race that stops a nation. He was one of, if not the most eye-catching run at Flemington and he is a proven performer at the Sydney way of going. Obviously, he can’t be ridden by regular hoop Craig Williams, but he doesn’t lose much, if anything with Bossy climbing aboard.

Queen Elizabeth Stakes – 4th

No. 12 Verry Elleegant – Bet Now: $6.50

Verry Elleegant has returned to the races in career-best form this time and is up to winning the Queen Elizabeth Stakes. The Zed mare won both the Vinery Stud Stakes and the Australian Oaks during her three-year-old season and while she didn’t quite return to those peaks in spring, she was unlucky not to win the Ranvet Stakes two back, and was utterly dominant in the Tancred Stakes fourth-up a fortnight ago. She’s at peak fitness, is drawn well and takes 2kgs from the topweight here. I don’t think the drop in trip will be too much of an issue for her.
