The Everest Free Tips, Bets and Field Preview – 2020

The Everest is in its fourth year of existence, and some of the world’s best sprinters will seek their share in a whopping $15 million purse at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

It was all about Nature Strip prior to the Spring Carnival commencing, but a couple of below-par performances from the multiple Group 1 winner have seen several others firm in The Everest betting.

The Everest – Winner

No. 6 Bivouac – Bet Now: $18.00

He clearly needed the run when he finished third in The Shorts when resuming, but Bivouac remains one of the country’s best sprinters, and the $14 available for him in The Everest betting at publish is over the odds.

Bivouac has been a star for Godolphin since making his debut early last year, but went to another level during last year’s Spring Carnival when winning the Golden Rose.

He ended his prep second in the Coolmore Stud Stakes, and returned in autumn in similarly devastating form; winning the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap at this point of his preparation, most notably.

I like that he has had a trial since his first-up run and he’ll take plenty of beating.

The Everest – 2nd

No. 7 Gytrash – Bet Now: $6.00

Gytrash has gone to another level this year and looms as a winning chance in The Everest.

He has been a good horse for the Gordon Richards stable throughout his career, but resumed in autumn for an utterly dominant performance and win in the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning.

He has four starts throughout his subsequent preparation and didn’t finished outside of the placings, adding second placings in both the William Reid and The Goodwood to his mantle.

The Lope De Vega gelding’s first-up run and win this time in the Concorde Stakes suggested that he has returned in similarly devastating form this season, and I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish of The Everest.

The Everest – 3rd

No. 3 Classique Legend – Bet Now: $4.20

Classique Legend has tuned up for The Everest with two lovely performances, and he is up to winning on Saturday.

The Not A Single Doubt gelding put paid to his rivals in The Shorts when resuming last month, and finished second behind a very impressive Libertini in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes last time out.

He simply doesn’t know how to run a bad race and by this point, Kerrin McEvoy knows him like the back of his hand.

He certainly has the ability – he needs only even luck in running to be in the finish again.

The Everest – 4th

No. 11 Libertini – Bet Now: $8.00

I didn’t really consider her to be on the same level as a few of these, but Libertini’s resuming performance and win in the Premiere Stakes was too impressive to ignore.

The I Am Invincible mare was a strong and consistent three-year-old and ended her spring prep third in the Coolmore, but it’s fair to say that she went off the boil in the autumn and her prep was abandoned.

Given the calibre of some of the horses that she spanked first-up, I think she’ll take plenty of beating with any improvement on that effort.

The Everest Suggested Bets

  • 2 Units E/W #6 Bivouac
  • Boxed Trifecta of the selections above
