The Thousand Guineas has drawn an impressive field of fourteen fillies to Caulfield on Saturday.
One of four Group 1 feature races on the program, there is little doubt that the Thousand Guineas shapes as one of more open contests on Neds Caulfield Guineas Day, and an intriguing betting race has materialised.
Thousand Guineas – Winner
No. 1 Hungry Heart – Bet Now: $3.40
She only just missed in the Flight Stakes last week and Hungry Heart goes on top of my 2020 Thousand Guineas tips.
The Frankel filly simply doesn’t know how to run a bad race, and she stamped herself as one to watch throughout an impressive two-year-old preparation which included a win in the Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes.
She has finished second in each of her three starts this preparation, and she clearly needs only even luck in running to be in the finish again on Saturday.
Thousand Guineas – 2nd
No. 4 Personal – Bet Now: $16.00
I think that Personal stands the best chance of winning the 2020 Thousand Guineas of those from Victorian stables, and she looks a lovely each-way bet at around the $15 mark.
The Fastnet Rock filly ran third in the Neds Blue Diamond here at Caulfield during her two-year-old season, but she always gave the impression that she would be better at three.
She finished only a couple of lengths behind the winner in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes when resuming, and was last seen finishing second in the Prelude race here a fortnight ago.
Getting out to a mile looks ideal and Damien Oliver stays in the saddle.
Thousand Guineas – 3rd
No. 5 Vangelic – Bet Now: $11.00
Vangelic is another filly that is backing up from the Flight Stakes in Sydney, and I can’t find a reason why she won’t be in the finish of the Thousand Guineas as well.
The daughter of Vancouver hasn’t returned a poor effort since debuting, and she has stripped fitter for three starts this preparation, including her third-placing last week.
She can go straight to the lead in this contest and will give them something to chase.
Thousand Guineas – 4th
No. 3 Instant Celebrity – Bet Now: $3.40
Instant Celebrity puts an undefeated record on the line in the Thousand Guineas, but this is easily the toughest task that she has been set.
The Phillip Stokes-trained filly has continued to improve with racing and as the bar has been set, and she made the perfect transition to black type racing in the Thousand Guineas Prelude, last time out.
Craig Williams stays in the saddle and should get every chance to win, I just think that others have more appeal in the market.
