Yulong has doubled down on its belief in Extreme Choice after securing the top lot of Day 2 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
The Victorian powerhouse paid $2 million for a colt by the sought-after Newgate stallion out of Hinchinbrook mare Hazlebrook.
It follows last year’s success when Yulong won the Blue Diamond Stakes with Devil Night, a $1.4 million Magic Millions purchase.
The latest colt is a brother to Group 3 winner Wollombi, whom Yulong bought for $500,000 at the 2024 National Yearling Sale.
Yulong general manager Jun Zhang said the colt was a non-negotiable target.
“He’s a very special colt, he was our only target that we definitely needed to buy,” Zhang said.
“We can see some stallion potential with him and also we own the sister as well, she is in-foal to Diatonic, so we try and create our own families so that is another reason why we had to get him.
“Extreme Choice is a very successful stallion and could be a history (making) stallion in the future, so this is why Mr Zhang is trying to get every Extreme Choice he can.”
The $2 million colt was one of five seven-figure lots sold on Wednesday, helping push the sale past $94 million with strong clearance figures.
