Punters sticking with Michael Grantham have been well rewarded in recent weeks.

The North Dandalup trainer is enjoying a purple patch, with his stable consistently producing winners under the cerise and white silks of owner Bob Peters.

Unbeaten colt Opportunistic is one of his rising stars and will line up in Saturday’s Listed Belmont Guineas (1600m) — a race Grantham has already claimed twice in the past three years.

Opportunistic has won both starts, including an impressive victory in the Listed Raconteur Stakes (1400m) at Bunbury.

Grantham, modest about his form, credited his team: “The team behind me are always up first, out there doing all the hard work and I’m taking all the credit for it.”

With 10 wins in June and 68 for the season, he sits among WA’s top trainers.

Before Saturday, Grantham also saddles up Midnight Star at Northam on Wednesday, declaring it a top hope.
