After a year off due to immaturity, Roselyn’s Star will resume at Rosehill in Saturday’s Congratulations Chris Waller Handicap (1100m), with connections hopeful he can live up to his early promise.

Despite drawing wide, co-trainer Tom Charlton is confident the gelding’s gate speed and the booking of James McDonald will help offset the challenge.

“His natural race pattern is to be very quick from the gates so I don’t think the draw is potentially as much of an issue as it could be,” Charlton said.

A proven performer on wet ground, the 2024 Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes runner-up is expected to thrive—unless conditions become too testing.

Charlton said the now four-year-old has matured and trialled strongly.

“We don’t know where his ceiling is but you’d like to think he might work through Saturday grade and he might be one for the Magic Millions next year.”

Stablemate Metaphorically, a last-start winner, also lines up at Rosehill and is being tested at Saturday level while in form.
